Issue #31 A Limitation Workaround

G’day aspiring engineers,

Did I tell you that I’m now on the Personal Use version of Fusion 360? I wanted to use it myself and demonstrate with it because so many comments below the videos ask about those limitations. I’ve been on it for about six months now and pretty soon after getting started I discovered a limitation which stymied me for a while.

I needed to update and revise the first half a dozen drawings in the free PDF which I give away with the 16 basic tutorials. You can’t do a title panel in the drawing environment with the Personal Use version, OK, that’s not a deal breaker, but exporting a PDF? I won’t be sending paper drawings all over the world by snail mail, it has to be a digital download. You can export a JPEG, which is close, but the resolution is limited by the computer monitor and the numbers on dimensions end up being fuzzy. I tried all sorts of ways to increase the resolution of the JPEG but ended up sitting there staring at the screen. Stymied. I don’t want to give up and pay for Fusion 360 at this stage, I need to demonstrate that the Personal Use license is usable – somehow.

So I thought back to the time I spent five years ago….
